La Compagnie Électrique Trahan & Mercille ltée was founded on January 1, 1971 by Gabriel Trahan and Richard Mercille. Their goal was to use their experience to best serve their marine and industrial customers.

Mr. Trahan was highly respected in the electrical marine field and was recognized for having pioneered the use of direct current. Despite his young age, Mr. Mercille quickly made a name for himself in the marine field because of his vast knowledge of inspection and industrial repair. Combining their experience, they achieved an international reputation in the field of electricity.

In 1988, Mr. Trahan decided to sell his shares to Mr. Mercille in order to take a much-deserved retirement. Sadly, Richard Mercille died in February 1992.

Since March 1, 1994 M. Eric Mercille is the new president and the company name has been changed to Trahan & Mercille Électrique (1994) ltée.
